# W&L and endowment taxes

After President Dudley's remarks in the commencement speech about the effort to tax endowments.[ According to the The Chronicle of Higher Education, W&L made out a lot better than a lot of other institutions](https://www.chronicle.com/article/a-damaging-endowment-tax-crosses-the-finish-line?ref=notunmindful.org) (Page 2 of the chart).

Not only did W&L avoid paying higher taxes on the endowment, but it seems the university is getting more than $2 million back. 

Dartmouth, Emory, and Richmond were not so lucky.
