Welcome gate to Washington & Lee University with the name on a plaque

I mean with everything else going on in our country, we have a lot to confront.

And anything that ties back to the original sin of the USA (Faulkner said that not me), must be addressed. We cannot march toward a racist, fascist state. And our university has mostly remained silent on all fronts as those in power are targeting higher learning. We are not Harvard, but the endowment is big enough to do what Williams College did.

All that said, I love the institution and what it allowed me do to. I turned down UVA and William & Mary to go there based on a tour given to me by an African-American student (I wish I could remember his name, but he was a member of ZBT). It lifted this poor white boy from Appalachia to heights even I never thought I'd reach, and now, as I retire, this is now my mission.

Non in cautus futuri.
